Event
Live the American dream on the big screen in Normandy! Deauville is hosting the 39th American Film Festival in September this year with its own star studded cast. Now only an hour away from the UK with Cityjet flights direct from London City airport, this Deauville experience is truly unique. As the only film festival in the world to offer the public and cinema lovers non stop film showings over a 10 day period, this date in the cinema calendar is one not to be missed.

Deauville and the big screen: a long standing love affair
Since the shooting of Claude Lelouch's mythical Un homme et une femme, the seaside resort of Deauville has been intimately linked with the cinema. Since the creation of the American Film Festival, many tributes have been been paid to leading figures of the cinema industry. Every year, their names are inscribed on the famous broadwalk, les Planches. Jean Gabin lived in Deauville between 1956 and 1974 and made several films here. Rumour has it that Michael Douglas met his future wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, during the 1999 Film Festival in Deauville.
