If you love both old buildings and good food, a stay at the 4 star Hotel “ La Chenevière” is a must! You will meet the Chef, Didier Robin, who will show you the best way to cook the famous red label Saint-Jacques Normandy Scallop… if you please!Close to Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches, 2 minutes from Omaha Beach, « La Chenevière » invites you to savour the moment in one of the most relaxing settings. When you arrive you will explore the beautiful park surrounding the 18th century Château de La Chenevière. In these elegant surroundings where relaxation is guaranteed, you will not only unwind but learn a multitude of things about refined cuisine. Your break is actually themed around scallops. From the sea to your plate, you will witness nearly every step. From the moment they leave the water, red label scallops - of which Normandy is the main producing region in France – are selected and cleaned by the fishermen. In the hours which follow, they are sold to the wholesalers. You will have the opportunity to see the hubbub when the fish is landed at Port en Bessin. Your guide will explain the whole process to you and will hand you on to a fishmonger. Then the time will come to go to the hotel kitchens for a course with the Chef who will share his delicious recipes with you. Normandy Scallops with rougail and sweet masala or Rosette of scallops with flakes of spicy chocolate in a drizzle of fruity olive oil… you will receive recipe leaflets, an apron, a chef’s hat as well as a diploma as a souvenir.... read more

  • 590 € per person for 2 nights. This break of 3 days/ 2 nights includes:

    2 nights in a double room with breakfasts, 2 dinners, cookery course "Preparation of fish and shellfish" followed by lunch tasting, guided visit of the landing of fish at Port-en-Bessin, selecting the fish at the fishmonger’s with Chef Didier Robin, and a visit to cider producers "Les Vergers de Ducy" followed by a tasting.
As a gift: each student receives a leaflet with the recipes studied.
